Brentwood Station Cycling & Walking Route

Imagine being able to walk or cycle from Warley through the Ford HQ development straight to Brentwood Station, without having to battle traffic or awkward junctions. That’s the vision behind the Warley to Brentwood Station Cycle Route — a project pushing for safer, greener, quieter travel for local people.

What We’ve Done So Far

  • The route has been mapped out to connect the old Ford HQ development in Warley with Brentwood Station.
  • We made sure this proposed route was included in the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) — which means it’s recognised as a priority for future infrastructure investment.
  • Efforts included securing developer contributions and conducting feasibility work to understand the cost, route options, and technical obstacles.

Why It Matters

  • Healthy travel: Easier walking or cycling to the station means fewer car journeys, cleaner air, more physical activity.
  • Inclusion: For those without cars, or who prefer active travel, this route would provide safer, more direct access to transport hubs.
  • Planning sense: Aligns with policy and housing growth; failsafe way to make major new developments more sustainable and connected.
  • What Could Strengthen the Project
  • Official design / route map released publicly, to show exact paths, crossings, elevations, etc.
  • Feasibility / cost report, published or summarised, so people can see potential challenges and understand trade-offs (e.g., land ownership, safety at junctions).
  • Public consultation, ideally via council or highway authority, so local voices can shape the final route.
