A1023 Shared Path — A Safer, Greener Way Into Town

Wouldn’t it be great if cycling or walking into town didn’t mean dodging cars or jumping curb to curb? The A1023 Walking & Cycling Scheme is changing that for good.

What’s planned

A brand-new, one-mile shared-use path along London Road, linking Brentwood Station to Kavanaghs Road near Harold Wood. New signalised crossings and shared space for all users make this more than just a beautification—it’s about safety. Construction is expected to begin in autumn 2025.

Why It’s a Game-Changer

Too many pedestrians and cyclists currently navigate disjointed, unsafe sections of road. This path fixes that. It also supports daily journeys like school runs, work commutes, or quick errands—all without getting in the car.

Cycle Brentwood’s Input

We’ve championed local input during consultations—not just cheering from the sidelines. Your feedback shaped crossing proposals, path width suggestions, and access to adjacent amenities.
