A Safer, Greener Link: Barrack Wood Path

Not long ago, travelling between Warley and Thorndon Country Park meant braving busy roads and blind bends. Today, thanks to local effort and support, there’s a new way through—safe, green, and already in use by walkers, cyclists, and riders.

What We Achieved

  • The Barrack Wood path is now open, linking the old Ford Warley HQ development directly to Thorndon Country Park.
  • Funded through a mix of local fundraising and national project support, we raised over £6,500 to prepare and surface the route.
  • The woodland link avoids high-speed traffic and creates a space where families, commuters, and leisure riders can travel with confidence.

Why It Matters

  • Safety first: No more squeezing past traffic or dodging blind bends—this route is fully off-road.
  • Health & wellbeing: A woodland path that encourages more people to walk, cycle, or ride while enjoying nature.
  • Connectivity: It opens up the park to new residents, linking homes, green spaces, and community facilities.

So if you haven’t yet—take the route, try the ride, and see what safer cycling in our borough can feel like.
